I absolutely love fall festivals. I love the colors of the fall foliage, the taste of seasonal fruit and vegetables and the local art and simplicity of spending time with my family and friends in nature. And of course, I really love the layers of fall clothes that I can finally wear! I’ve created a list of DC Area Fall Festivals. Enjoy!
Cox Farms Fall Festival
Centreville, VA //September 19 – November 8
Admission: $9/weekdays, $14/weekends, $17 prime weekend for ages 2 and up
This festival is perfect for the entire family! There is a Kiddie Zone just for little ones aged 5 and under. Prepare yourself for an entire day at this festival, as this is one of the largest fall festivals in the area! This festival consists of live entertainment, a huge corn maze, seven slides, swings, games, pumpkins, farm animals, and lots of places for a picnic and a lot more! Weekends are normally packed and you can expect long lines.
Fall Pumpkin Festival
Ticonderoga Farm, Chantilly, VA// September 19 – November 8
Admission: $9.95/weekdays, $16.95/holiday and weekends
This festival offers everything to get you and your family in the mood for fall: Noah’s Ark playground, Jump and Bounce Pillow, The Cow Pow Train, hayrides, swings, hillside slides, s’mores roasting, cornshucking demos, face painting, a petting farm, a willow maze, antique tractors, a firetruck, a pumpkin patch, games and so much more! Hartland Orchard Fall Festival Weekends
Markham, VA Weekends Only// September 12 – October 31
Admission: $10/ages 3 and up, free for ages 2 and under Every fall, I receive a lot of inquiries about where to pick apples. At Hartland Orchard, you can pick all of these fresh fruits: raspberries, cherries, blueberries, peaches, pumpkins and of course, apples! They also offer: hayrides, pumpkin patches, a 60-foot slide, a corn maze, duck and pig races, and pony rides. There is an additional cost for some activities.
Maryland Renaissance Festival
Revel Grove in Crownsville, MD// Weekends Only through October 25

This festival is worth the drive to Maryland to time travel to the medieval times. Your kids may ask a lot of questions because they may not have seen people dressed so festively for a fall festival like this. But, feel free to get dressed up in your own costume for this festival! You can expect knights, pirates, villagers and maidens–all the characters of the 16th century. As an actress, I enjoy taking this journey where live theater meets amusing comedy acts, fire eaters, sword swallowers, tight rope walkers, jugglers, jousting matches, live musical performances and puppetry.
Fall Weekends at Clark’s Elioak Farm
Where: Ellicott City, MD
When: Pumpkin patch open September 19 – October 31
Admission: $5, babies 1 and under are free
There’s a castle and the Enchanted Forest on a farm with seasonal “enchantments” like pumpkins, cider, and Halloween decorations amongst story book scenery. There are cow train rides, hay rides, slides, a petting zoo area, a pumpkin patch and a pine tree maze. Kids can play among story book scenes like Humpty Dumpty’s wall, The Three Bears’ windows, The Old Woman’s shoe and more! On fall weekends, guests may also enjoy special activities like pumpkin coloring and crafts, a teddy bear visit and gem mining. To top it off: face painting and pit beef are also available on Saturdays and Sundays.
Wayside Farm Fall Fun
Berryville, VA// September 19 – November 1
Admission: $10
A farm full of fun for the whole family. There’s a 10 acre corn maze, piggie race, goat walk, slides and play yard and pumpkin patch, perfect for the whole family.
Fall For Fairfax KidsFest
Fairfax County Government Center, VA//October 3-4
Admission: Free Celebrate Fairfax, Inc. is proud to present the 23rd annual Fall For Fairfax KidsFest the premiere fall family festival in the Mid-Atlantic region. Enjoy exciting, interactive and educational programs, entertainment and activities. Fall For Fairfax KidsFest is specially designed for families with elementary and pre-K aged children.
Butler’s Orchard Pumpkin Festival
Germantown, MD//Weekends Only September 26 – October 31
Admission: $11, free for children 2 and under
Although, not in DC or Northern Virginia , this is a local family farm providing good, green produce for 65 years and is a local favorite for families, especially those with young kids. The slides are just the right size for little ones, as is the petting zoo and the hayrides.
Fall Pumpkin Harvest Festival
Great Country Farms, Bluemont, VA//September 26 – October 31
Admission: $10 for Adults $8 for Kids on weekdays, $12 for Adult $10 for Kids on weekends, ages 2 and under are free
Great Country Farms is amazing the entire year round. However, there’s something about the road trip to Bluemont that makes our family giddy. The farm is very clean and beautiful and includes a P-Rex, the pumpkin eating dinosaur; Rubber Ridge, a tractor tire mountain, a Pumpkin Princess in the pumpkin patch, a giant Pumpkin’ Jumpin’ Pillow, five mazes, 60-foot slides, rope swings, tractor rides, and even more fun in the country. And they have the largest pick-a-pumpkin patch in the DC area.
Taste of DC
Pennsylvania Ave., 3rd-7th Streets NW, WDC// October 10-11, 12-7pm
Admission: $10, $5/ages 6-12, free for 5 and under
Sample the food, wine, and the spirit of Washington DC this Columbus Day weekend! There will be over 50 restaurants to sample the unique cuisine as well as well as live music, a beer garden, and a family friendly Worldwide Family Fun Stop including dancing, games, storytelling and arts & crafts.
