Celebrity make-up artists and beauty bloggers are raving about Rihanna’s new cosmetic line simply called Fenty. Rihanna was inspired to create Fenty Beauty after years of experimenting with the best-of-the-best in beauty—and still seeing a void in the industry for products that performed across all skin types and tones. She launched a makeup line “so that women and men everywhere would be included,” focusing on a wide range of traditionally hard-to-match skin tones, creating formulas that work for all skin types, and pinpointing universal shades. This really is a new generation of beauty!
During my days as an actress and model, I grew very loyal to MAC Cosmetics. Applauded for their ability to match darker skin better than any other brand during it’s time—it seemed to be the only legit choice in the cosmetic industry. According to Poshly Insights, “Shade matching has historically been a major concern among consumers, with 60 percent reporting at least some difficulty finding a foundation that matches their skin.”
When I heard Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r foundation would be available in 40 shades, I was skeptical. I thought “another celebrity make-up line that will only cater to a select group of consumers.” However, this cosmetic collection is unprecedented! It is always a huge challenge to find a perfect undertone match, especially for women and men at the extreme ends of the light and dark spectrum.
I went into my local Sephora for a color match consultation and was surprised at how perfect my match was! I was matched with foundation color 380 Cool and the shade is absolutely perfect. After applying, my skin looked like it had been professionally cleansed, moisturized and just naturally glowed. The foundation was light to the touch with a smooth and satiny feel. My skin was matte without looking caked or dry. It’s medium coverage perfected my minor blemishes without completely covering my moles and freckles. My pores appeared smaller. The foundation also covered my melasma with only once application–no need to layer. It is so incredibly light-weight that I almost forgot to wash it off before bed.
I’m in love with Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation. I can’t recommend it enough.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation comes in a 1.08-oz. glass bottle with a pump and retails for $34 and is available at Sephora.
What’s more? Fenty Beauty Holiday drops this Friday, October 13th! Head to Sephora and wait in line! Just like the foundation, I’m positive this entire line will sell out in record time!
