The weather is finally starting to warm up here in Washington, D.C., and living in the mid-Atlantic, there are so many beautiful places to be discovered just a few hours away from the hustle and bustle of the nation’s capital. As we start to hit the warm 70s and 80s, it’s time to grab your weekender travel bag and start thinking about what to wear on your next weekend getaway!
Style client and friend Angelica Talan and I decided to pack up our families and head to the Chesapeake Bay area for a quick weekend getaway. Angelica recommended we stay at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay because of it’s amazing location and awesome family friendly vibe. As working mothers and wives, we rarely get a chance to unplug, get the kids together and relax with our spouses all at the same time. The Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay is the perfect place to make this a reality. Our children enjoyed the indoor swimming pool, run around the resort and play at the in-house arcade. I will say the dads enjoyed the arcade as well…probably a little too much.
With dinner time fast approaching, Angelica and I decided to take advantage of the onsite day care service (Pirates Cove) and put the kids in for a few hours, while we had the chance to have a nice double date over dinner. Imagine that, an uninterrupted, no: “Sit down, eat your food, do you have to go potty?” dinner with fellow adults, talking about grown-up things like the latest true crime drama on TV. Total bliss!
Before we left DC, Angelica asked that I style her looks for our weekend getaway. On a weekend getaway you want to feel relaxed and light, so I styled three looks from Eloquii, one of Angelica’s favorite boutiques at Pentagon City Mall, that I think are perfect for a weekend trip.
The Eloquii leaf print wrap maxi dress, Raffia tote and layered chain necklace is the perfect mix of a relaxed but refined day to evening look. The white floral fit and flare dress from Eloquii is great for Sunday brunch and will be worn again and again for all of her Spring events. The khaki ruffle sleeve trench coat makes a nice packaway for chilly weekends. The 9 to 5 layering top with the distressed straight leg jeans balanced Angelica’s feminine weekend wardrobe with a casual, comfortable and cute outfit with the beautiful Jules scrappy block heel sandals and black and white envelope clutch.
It was so nice to be “mommy guilt” free as we ate our dinner, enjoyed each other’s company and knew that our children were in a safe space with endless entertainment. With so many ways to relax and rejuvenate, sprucing up and getting away, even if it’s a quick 24 hour getaway, having the chance to unplug does wonders for the entire family.
I have to thank Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay for their hospitality and amazing service. My family and I had a wonderful time and I know Angelica and her family did as well!
Thank-you to Dave Mentzer for capturing the behind the scenes of our styling session and to Elissa Bettencourt for makeup.
