Lululemon “& Go”.

Lululemon has launched a brand new line of casual clothes for outside the yoga studio that includes sundresses, pants and tank tops. The line, called “&Go,” targets women who are “out the door at daybreak and moving until midnight,” Lululemon says. The ad resonates with women, ”You don’t have time for a wardrobe that keeps forcing you to change. You’re busy living. We get it.”  &Go, which is being sold online and in stores, launched last week. Six of the 12 products that were part of the debut sold out in a matter of hours, according to Canaccord Genuity analyst Camilo Lyon.

The line’s shorts retail at $54, tops for $58, dresses for $198 and pants cost between $108 and $118. Lyon says the new line is proof that Lululemon “is still very much relevant and not fading,” despite a recent glitch in a recalled line of yoga pants.

“In our opinion, it is the most progressive, fashion-forward line the company has brought to market in quite some time,” Lyon said in a note to clients  last week. And the line looks pretty hip to a busy mom like me! What do you think about the multiple purpose line of clothes?

Sarah Jessica Parker Launches “SJP” Shoe Line at Nordstrom, Friday February 28th

Have you ever imagined being the character Carrie Bradshaw in “Sex and the City” or at least day dreamed about what it would be like to have her shoe collection in your closet? Well, now you can.  Parker worked with the CEO of Manolo Blahnik, George Malkemus, on the new collection.

Sarah Jessica Parker has designed a collection of shoes, handbags and a trench coat for Nordstrom that launches Friday, February 28th. The SJP Collection aims to make shoe-aholics swoon with pumps and flirty, strappy stilettos in a variety of colors such as mint, purple and mauve. They’re made in Italy and named after Ms. Parker’s fashion influences, including a pair dubbed “Carrie” and another called “Maud” for renowned fashion designer Maud Frizon.

“I’ve taken inspiration from things in my life such as the grosgrain ribbons I tied in my hair as a girl to the flower accents from the ‘Sex and the City’ wardrobe to references to classic styles from the late ’70s and early ’80s,” Ms. Parker said in a statement.

Handbags were named after some of Sarah Jessica Parker’s favorite spots in New York City. One of my favorites, the “Waverly” cross-body bag and the “Beekman” clutch are just two examples. The “Manhattan” trench comes in navy or natural colors and is designed to flatter with an A-line fit and skirted silhouette.

“I’m a firm believer in quality and timelessness and have created this collection with the hopes that women will love wearing it for years to come,” she said.

Priced affordably, shoes will range from $195 to $500, and handbags will be from $245-$375. The trench will retail for $495. The line launches on Friday, February 28th in select Nordstrom stores including a public reception and launch at the Nordstrom in Pentagon City in Arlington, Virginia from 6 PM to 9 PM. SJP shoes will also be available online at www.nordstrom.com.

“We started this idea when Kourtney was pregnant with Penelope,” said Kim, mother of North. ”It was mainly Kourtney who was the inspiration, but as I got pregnant, I started to chime in. The Front Row at Bethesda Row May 17-19

The Front Row at Bethesda Row is the one event I look forward to every year! This event holds a truly special place in my heart in part because Barbara Martin, one of the principals of Brandlink DC invited me to the very first event four years ago in 2009. Celebrity guest and fashion designer Christian Siriano was honored in a pre-fashion show party complete with signature cocktails and endless hor d’ouerves from one of my favorite restaurants in Bethesda, Redwood. It was significant because I had just had my first child a year prior to this event and I hadn’t lost all the baby weight. Not only was I feeling insecure about my appearance, I was battling a mild case of postpartum depression and had just about dropped out of the DC fashion scene for good. This was the first event I had attended in a year since I had my daughter. One of the fashion photographers covering the event, Betsy Lowther of Fashion is Spinach asked me if I’d pose for a picture. That picture ended up in the Washington Post Express Newspaper and Fashion Washington Magazine. This event gave me the confidence I needed to “get back in the game”  and inspired me to continue to focus on my family and my physical fitness. The event reminded me of what a great city Washington DC is and gave me a renewed faith to pursue my dreams in acting and modeling and eventually begin blogging. You see, Moms can do it all.  And of course, I thank Barbara Martin of BrandlinkDC for encouraging me to see the light.

This will be my fourth year attending the event. And I’ve been shopping for the perfect outfits to wear to both the DC Premiere of the fashion documentary “God Save My Shoes” and to (one of my heroes), Andy Cohen’s book signing of his newly released memoir “Most Talkative”.

The Front Row is an event that’s free and open to the public! You don’t want to miss it! You may just find yourself inspired to make things happen too! May 17-19th. Check out www.bethesdarow.com for details.

I was fortunate enough to be at the “right place at the right time” when a friend of mine called me from Los Angeles to ask me where she could find a vintage gown for a very important movie premiere she was headed to in a week.  That right place and right time happened to be the night I was attending The SNOBSWAP Sip & Launch party that took place on April 19th at Tari Boutique in Georgetown. “You have to log on right this minute and get a dress, shoes, baubles, your entire outfit!” I’m positive that she did because just last night, I received a text from her premiere that simply said “Thanks” with a picture of her in head to toe vintage Chanel.

I  also attribute it to luck that I was invited to the SNOBSWAP Sip & Launch because it was one of the best launches I’ve ever attended! I hadn’t yet been formally introduced to this awesome online community. The clothes were undeniably elegant, the champagne and lychee spritzers were refreshing and tantalizing and the fashionable opportunity to meet and network with fellow bloggers and socialites was electrifying. And the highlight of the night was meeting the creators of SNOBSWAP, a sister powerhouse duo, Emily Whang and Elise Dang. These two women have not only become my latest source of inspiration in business and fashion, they’ve become my style icons as well. I’m so excited for them and their new business endeavor!

A few days following SNOBSWAP‘s Launch Party, I was able to interview the sisters.

Clarendon Moms:  I meet a lot of women, especially moms that are interested in starting their own businesses, but are “afraid” to take the leap. What advice would you give to them to take the risk and go for their goals?

Elise:  Coming from a legal background, I’m pretty risk adverse so my advice is to take “baby steps” before taking the leap!  Make time in your day or week for your personal passion, conduct research, test the waters, and get feedback to see if your idea is worth the leap.  And set a family plan for when you do take the leap. It’s so important to have the support your family.  I also found talking to other mommyprenuers to be very helpful as well.  You may have to sacrifice even more sleep but remember life is short and you’re so worth it!  Another mommy birdie recently told me  - don’t feel guilty for taking time out to pursue your passion and ask for help if you can because you being happy makes everyone else happy.  It’s a scary leap but I’ve finally found my own work-life balance that works for me now and I couldn’t be happier.  Wheeeee!

Clarendon Moms: Sometimes going into business with a partner that’s either a best friend or relative can be “tricky”. How are you two different and how do your differences make your partnership work?

Elise: Since, I’m the older sister, I feel comfortable taking the lead, but I trust Emily completely to come up with strategy and fully execute it. Emily’s business experience in luxury retail strategy, consulting, IT, and belief in SNOBSWAP has been a tremendous and necessary asset in launching the website.

Emily: We make a great team and working with Elise is pretty amazing. She is a true innovator, with a strategic vision, passionate drive and deep insight.  Elise shaped the SNOBSWAP concept from just an idea into a sophisticated online marketplace.

Clarendon Moms: I am currently reading the book “By Invitation Only” about the women who started Gilt. I’ve found some new inspiration thru them and now thru you. Are there any business models/role models that inspired you? And why?

Elise: What a compliment! There were a mixture of business models that have inspired us which include, the thrill of swapping, and the savings on designer labels from consigning.  All entrepreneurs who we’ve met have inspired us just by the mere fact they took the leap to do what they love!  We find female business leaders and mommyprenuers especially inspirational, including the founders of Gilt.com, Sara Blakely founder of Spanx, and grannyprenuer, our grandma, who had four kids and opened the first female-owned sporting goods store in Taiwan.

Emily: Thank you!  Other role models who inspire us include Diane von Furstenberg and Steve Jobs.  Diane von Furstenberg is amazing, she came to New York with a suitcase full of dresses she had created and over the last 30 years, saw great success.  She is amazing, a savvy businesswoman, humanitarian, and has largely supported important women initiatives.  Steve Jobs has been immensely inspiring, his passion and legacy.  From his “do what you love” mantra to his keen aesthetic eye, and his innovation vision.

Clarendon Moms: And finally, what’s next for you two? Are you planning to launch any Apps for the Ipad/Ipod? Styling Events?

Elise:  I plan on having baby #2 in 6 weeks! ☺  We do have exciting plans for SNOBSWAP in the pipeline coming soon!

EmilyIt’s too early to unveil but stay tuned!
