At long last, the new National Children’s Museum at the National Harbor opens tomorrow, Friday December 14th! The 23,000 square foot space has exhibits and programming designed to encourage children to learn through play. The museum will provide a rich indoor experience focusing on play, civic engagement, the environment, the arts, health and well being, and global citizenship. A 60,000 square foot creative outdoor space is scheduled to open in Spring 2014 to include a toddler zone; “challenge mountain” adventure; water play zone; fantasy garden; and a variety of other activities where children can explore, create, and discover the wonders of the natural world. The National Children’s Museum is the only congressionally designated museum dedicated entirely to children and their families and caregivers.
The National Children’s Museum is open seven days a week from 10 AM to 5 PM between Labor Day and Memorial Day, and will remain open until 7 PM during summer months. Admission is $10 per person (Infant Children 12 months and under are free). Various membership packages are available offering year round-admission, exclusive benefits and access to special museum events.
The National Children’s Museum will begin accepting reservations for private birthday parties beginning Monday, January 7, 2013 for parties beginning in March 2013.
