After much anticipation, and as a result of the popularity of its DC shops in Georgetown, Bethesda and Dupont Circle and Penn Quarter, Drybar has opened its fifth DC area location in Tysons Corner on Thursday, March 10th. Drybar’s refreshingly simple concept: “No cuts. No color. Just blowouts” has captivated a legion of loyal clients across the country. Now Drybar is heading to one of the most dynamic shopping destinations in the region. With additional openings on the horizon in NYC, Seattle, Miami, Toronto and Los Angeles, the brand is on track to have over 75 locations by the end of 2016.
“We’re so happy to be heading to Tysons,” said Alli Webb, founder of Drybar. “Our clients have been anxiously awaiting a location in Northern Virginia and we’re so excited to finally make it a reality.” Drybar will be conveniently located next to Macy’s and Bloomingdales.
My friend Amelia had the opportunity to pop by Drybar on opening day last week for a blow out. Amelia described Drybar as being very vibrant and exuberant and the staff very efficient and friendly.
Drybar provides professional blowouts at a flat price of just $45, regardless of hair length or thickness (wash included!). The list of styles reads like a cocktail menu: the Cosmo (lots of loose curls), the Straight Up (straight with a little body), the Southern Comfort (big hair, lots of volume), the Mai Tai (messy and beachy), the Manhattan (sleek and smooth) the Dirty Martini (tousled and textured) and for the little ladies, the Shirley Temple at $28.
Drybar was founded by Alli Webb. Before becoming owner/founder of Drybar and a full time mom to Grant, 9, and Kit, 7, Webb had a career in public relations working with clients such as Paul McCartney, Faith Hill and Keith Urban. She’s a professional hair stylist, trained by Toni & Guy, and spent several years working under John Sahag in New York. In 2008 she began a side business called Straight-at-Home, which provided in home blow-outs, strictly on a referral basis in Los Angeles. Drybar is now the “go-to blow out bar” for many celebrities including: Julia Roberts, Cindy Crawford, Jennifer Garner, Chrissy Teigen, Zooey Deschanel, Emma Roberts, Lana Del Rey, Renee Zellweger, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Rita Ora, Rose McGowan, Molly Sims, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Hilary Duff, Miley Cyrus, Nina Garcia, Katherine Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver—just to name a few!
Named one of the top “100 Brilliant Ideas of 2010” by Entrepreneur magazine and New York Magazine’s Boom Brands of 2013, Drybar is based on the simple concept of focusing on one thing and being the best at it.
Alli Webb has been recognized as a leader in her profession and has received many awards including: 2014 CEW Achiever Award, Fortune’s “40 under 40,” Marie Claire’s “16 Most Fascinating Women,” Cosmopolitan’s “2013 Power List” and Fast Company’s “100 Most Creative People in Business.”
