The White House Easter Egg Roll is an annual family event to hunt for and race Easter Eggs on the White House Lawn while enjoying storytelling and a visit with the Easter Bunny. The holiday tradition has a long history dating back to 1878 when President Rutherford B. Hayes officially opened the White House grounds to local children for egg rolling on Easter Monday. Successive Presidents have continued the tradition of inviting children to the White House Lawn for egg rolling and other activities and entertainment.

The White House will open the South Lawn to children age twelve and under, along with their families, to enjoy sports, cooking classes, live musical performances, storytelling and the traditional White House Easter Egg Roll. The 2012 event featured the theme of “Get Up and Go!” promoting health and wellness with activities that encourage children to lead healthy and active lives and follow the First Lady’s ‘Let’s Move!’ initiative. The 2013 theme will be announced soon.

Recap: Tea With Mrs. B Event at Social Safeway

I was delighted to attend the Tea With Mrs. B event at the Social Safeway on Saturday, December 3rd. Although the event was geared for 4 to 12 year olds, I took my 3 1/2 year old daughter Ella and my 1 1/2 year old son Logan. They definitely had fun!

Rebecca Czarniecki is the owner of Tea With Mrs. B, a tea room specializing in offering manners and etiquette classes for girls and boys.  The Tea Room offers a fun and professional staff that entertain the children while educating them on how to introduce themselves to one another, enter and exit a social setting, how to properly use their napkins, proper use of stemware, how to hold their tea cups while drinking tea. Each party includes an awesome and elegant child-friendly high tea complete with invitations, fun party hats, fine table linens, china, crystal, silver and gold accoutrements, floral centerpieces, tea sandwiches, cupcakes, tea and a nice finished arts and craft project to take home. Ours was a nice fresh floral arrangement.
